Her daughter was asked to sign a piece of paper while her mother was filling up papers for her daughter’s stay at the hospital.
With the medical advancement and technology in our world today, more and more people are living longer, more productive lives. Sadly, not all doctors and medical staff deserve their title, with thousands of patients dying from medical malpractice.
One victim’s mother continues to ask for help on social media, two years after her daughter’s death. Loraine Bronola claims that her daughter died from medical malpractice, after doctors from the Eastern Bicol Medical Center (EBMC) couldn’t explain her daughter’s death after giving birth.
On October 1, 2015, Loraine brought her daughter, Ma. Lorna Bornola, to the said hospital after she started having labour pains. As soon as the 57-year-old arrived at the hospital, she was told by a nurse to fill up the necessary documents at the admitting section of the hospital.
After filling everything up, she returned to her daughter. The latter then told her that a nurse approached her and asked her to sign something. Confused about it, Loraine approached the said nurse and asked what the paper was about. After several attempts of ignoring Loraine’s queries, the nurse finally told her that it was for ‘consent’. The nurse then told her to get the patient ready for C-section.
A few hours later, nurses emerged from the operating room with the baby. However, that moment of happiness didn’t last long. Loraine noticed that nurses and staff who came in and out of the operating room had panic written all over their faces. And at 2 am on October 2, Lorna was declared dead.
When Loraine went to check on her daughter’s corpse, she noticed that Lorna had bled from her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. It was also noticeable that Lorna had burns all over her back, from her head to her feet. Her entire body also swollen and bloated.
The cause of death was never revealed, and Loraine has continued to fight for justice for the past two years—sadly to no avail. She now seeks for the help of whoever could help her so that her daughter’s soul may rest in peace.
Many netizens believe that her daughter’s death was the result of medical malpractice.
