What may be ‘normal’ for others, can be inappropriate for some.
In many countries around the world, kissing has been a form of greeting, and respect towards elders. While passionate kissing is restricted to lovers, a smack on the cheek or the forehead can be a simple form of greeting or a symbol of love for a family member.
However, kissing family members on the lips (except between husband and wife) has become taboo for many people as it is dubbed to be lewd and inappropriate.
Most Asian countries practice kissing family members as a form of respect and love—but usually not on the lips. 62-year-old Chinese actor Joseph Lee was with her daughter to celebrate the latter’s birthday. While a sweet moment with family would warm the hearts of many, their photo seem to disgust many because it was ‘lewd’ for some.
In the series of photos shared on the internet, Lee can be seen giving his daughter a kiss on the lips while the latter had her arms wrapped around her father. Many netizens slammed the father and daughter for what they did, and said that parents shouldn’t give their children kisses on the lips—especially when your children are already all grown-up.
However, some netizens believe there was nothing wrong with the picture. They claim that parents kissing their children on the lips is just normal because there is no malice behind it.
According to some experts, as a child gets to 4 or 5 or 6 and their sexual awareness comes about, the kiss on the lips can be stimulating to them. They are advising parents to NOT kiss their children on the lips as much as possible.
What do you think? Do you kiss your children on the lips?
